If you start overnight from Mumbai you can be back by next evening. It takes around 6hrs time to reach Aurangabad and then a hour for Ajanta caves. Ellora caves are offskirt compared to Ajanta route and hence if you plan both to complete in a day, you could be back by next midnight.
